Club Trip!

Down East Sunrise Trail

Friday, January 27, 2012 at 7:00am until Sunday, January 29, 2012

Our ride is planned to begin at the OTR Clubhouse, however we may end up trailering to offload in Ellsworth if conditions don't make it feasible to leave from home. More details will be posted shortly because the snow is coming! An exact itinerary and route will be dependent on snow depth. Do your snow dance!. Please feel free to call 852-8000 for information.

A Message From Our President

Happy New Year to all of our snow peeps.  May the coming year bring you happiness, health and prosperity.  We held a small but pleasant holiday celebration with a pot luck and yankee swap that took place before a short and concise meeting afterwards in December. We discussed planning for an upcoming Club Trip on the Down East Sunrise Trail Friday January 27th through Sunday January 29th.  Let's hope the snow comes soon!  We hope to leave from the Clubhouse but if conditions don’t allow, we’ll trailer to Ellsworth and unload there.  If we do that and you don’t have a trailer, don’t worry because someone usually has extra space in their trailer or pickup.  It is sure to be fun and pleasant ride.  For those of you who haven’t done it yet, you will be pleasantly surprised!  Details are forthcoming on our website and will also be published here next month.  Let us know if you’re interested in joining us by calling 852-8000.   A bit of sad news for you; our eldest member Raymond Perkins passed away recently. Raymond was one of the founding members of Orrington Trail Riders and a very generous landowner. Trail #9 from Center Drive to Brewer Lake crosses his land.  He was a great man.  Our work bee crew has had their hands full getting trails in shape.  They have been on a mission to remove rocks that appeared to be small but ended up being like icebergs!  Also swamping and rutting has been an issue but our guys seem to enjoy hard work.  Special recognition goes out to our Trailmaster, Pat Joyce for a job well done in leading his crew of volunteers that include Nick Chiappone, Forrest Higgins, Brian Wardwell, Ben Phillips, Nate Wardwell, Mike Fowler, Kevin Hanscom, and Harry Hanscom.  Please don’t take them or our landowners for granted.  Take care of our trails.  Respect the signage and stay on the trail.  Ride right, ride safe, ride sober and do your snow dance!  Meetings take place the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm at our Clubhouse located at 262 Long Hill Road through April.  Join us!
